In just a few short years, French-American singer Laura Anglade has established herself as a singular and sought-after voice in jazz, becoming known for her fearless and impressive improvisational chops as well as her simply beautiful, crystalline vocal quality and inventive phrasing.

A 2023 JUNO nominee for Best Vocal Jazz Album, Laura was recognized by Radio Canada’s Ici Musique as one of the “top five female jazz musicians to watch out for”. Laura is making a name for herself in the jazz world, garnering legions of adoring fans all over the world including many established jazz artists who enthusiastically follow her career.

Laura’s singing is reminiscent of many of the great traditional vocal stylists of the 20th century including Anita O’Day, Shirley Horn and Blossom Dearie, but her voice is uniquely her own. As she digs emotionally and eloquently into a lyric, her story-telling abilities portray a soul beyond her years.

Her debut release, ‘I’ve Got Just About Everything’ (Justin Time Records, 2019) saw the vocalist, along with her quintet, fearlessly plunging headlong into a wide range of material drawn from both the Broadway stage as well as the Great American Songbook.

On her JUNO-nominated sophomore recording, ‘Venez Donc Chez Moi’ (Justin Time Records, 2022), Laura teams up with Montreal guitarist Sam Kirmayer as well as New York based accordionist Benjamin Rosenblum on two tracks. It is an homage of sorts, a nod to Laura’s beloved France. The record features French classics made famous by Barbara, Charles Trenet, Edith Piaf and Michel Legrand to name a few.

Laura leads an active international touring schedule and has performed at many world-class venues including Town Hall (New York City), the Ace Theatre Hotel (Los Angeles),  l'Olympia (Paris), Royal Festival Hall (London), and on the main stage at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal among others. She opened for Gregory Porter at the Victoria Jazz Festival (summer 2022), and Melody Gardot (fall 2022), joining her across the east and west coasts of the US as well as in Europe.

In January 2023, Laura performed with the Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal to an enthusiastic and sold-out house in a program of jazz standards by Jerome Kern, presented in the original Nelson Riddle orchestrations created for Ella Fitzgerald. Laura is currently based in Toronto where she performs and teaches.
