Since our 2017 release "Preludes: The Music of George Gershwin", we have been playing new arrangements of jazz classics as well as some new original pieces.  We always look forward to performing at Gigspace and sharing our latest discoveries in such a great listening environment.  We hope to present a new arrangement of a Brazilian piece or a Paul Motian composition, as well as some more familiar music.  

For the second set we will be joined once again by Hindustani vocalist Vinay Bhide and sitarist Udit Bhide for a set of improvised music based on jointly composed melodies.  Vinay and Steve met through Vinay's "Music of India" course at Carleton University in 2004 and have recently started working out pieces that highlight the similarities between jazz improvisation and the ragas of North India.  

Steve Boudreau:  Steve  is an Ottawa-based pianist who specializes in jazz and popular music. He currently teaches piano privately and as part of Carleton University's Music Performance program. In 2010 he received a Master of Music degree in jazz performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston. He has toured North America with multiple musical productions and has performed as both leader and sideman at various Canadian jazz festivals. His recently released trio album "Preludes: The Music of George Gershwin" has been getting radio play on Canadian jazz stations and a new quartet record of original music entitled "Opus 2" is now out, with guitarist Garry Elliott, bassist Adrian Vedady and drummer Camil Belisle.
